On the subject of Girl Scout Cookies, I lived in Sioux City IA for a while. North Sioux City is in South Dakota and South Sioux City is in Nebraska. South Dakota got their cookies first so we would all go there and buy, then a couple weeks later Iowa got theirs so we would get another fresh stock and then Nebraska got theirs about 2 weeks after that. Within 5 miles I had a 2 month window to get cookie. By the way Thin Mint's Rule ;)

And the winners are (we decided to give away 3 boxes)...
Lori Carlson
Kandace Fierro
Miryam Serrano

We swear it wasn't rigged. The names were drawn out of a hat.

I want to thank Harry Lumer, Owner of family-owned L& R Auto Parks, based in Los Angeles.
We have worked with L&R, dba Joe's Parking, for 20 years at Fiesta Broadway, and we buy out most of their parking lots every year to use as SuperSite exhibit areas. They own most of the parking lots in Downtown Los Angeles, and all over the U.S. They have always been fair with us and even gave us a break this year when we were strapped for cash. We are producing a new event for Red Bull coming up in September, and when I needed an answer right away on using one of their lots for a news shoot, Harry took me to the lot I needed to use and we made a deal right there on the spot. He looked me in the eye, and shook my hand; that was it, we had a deal.
He will never see this but, and it was a very little gesture in the big picture of life, but it made a big impression on me. I wish more relationships could be cemented this way.

I kid, I kid. I would like to thank the amazing ladies at the Mambo - Becky, Lynn, Liz - for being the coolest and smartest gals on the block. When I grow up, I want to be just like you.

Well, I'm going to agree that the woman in Singapore gets all the Thank a Lots. Even with a random drawing, it needs to be rigged that she wins! I can't even post my thank you, cause it just doesn't seem to matter, well...maybe it does.

Ok, since she's still alive and kicking: I want to thank my grandmother aka Momo Beene. She has given me my fashion sensibility, my sassy attitude, and shown me how beneficial an attitude adjustment is (that's a after work drink for those wondering). :) Thank, thank, Thank-A-Lots!

That Singapore lady should still win...just sayin.

Thank You Mambo for getting my feet off the ground and being the loveliest, best-est friends that anyone could ask for. I'd be a lost fish at sea with sharks circling around me (like 80 sharks)... it's also pitch black, throw in some eels into this story too. Now we have a lost fish at sea surrounded by sharks, eels, hmm... oh and a huge ginormous squid. Plus, I (the fish) havent eaten for days and am tired and listless. Well then Mambo comes in to scoop me away to greater heights (land). Thank you guys!

Thank you goes to all the fearless and strong Latina women I so grateful to be surrounded by. Starting with my two grandmothers, my mom, my crazy tias and primas, Arnie's mom & sister, and of course the partners of the Mambo.

When God throws me a curve ball I think of their perseverance.

I want to thank Justin & Brett from the HIT Center for helping this 54 year old, burger eatin, martini drinking old man lose 50lbs and gain his health back. Their commitment to my weight loss through exercise and diet has been a life saver. These guys are special, no other people or gym could have done for me what they have done. If there's any of you guys out there in Mambo Land who need help getting back in shape, let me know I'll tell you all about them.
No their not a client :)

Yes, Sue. That story is real. Lori does some amazing things. Check out her organization - The Ponheary Ly Foundation. http://www.theplf.org/

That said, the contest will be won by random drawing of entrants, not by the best story. The point is to thank someone, even if that someone just did something nice like let you in on the freeway.

Mambo, you should send all the children who have been sick cookies too and their teachers!!!!!!! Is that story for real? I know they have to be in this country BUT....this story is too good!

Thanks to a woman I've never met. Indeed I probably never will. All I know is that one day last month I was sitting in Cambodia lamenting the fact that we had uncovered a problem with the well water at one of the schools and after having tested the water found out that it had something in it that was making the children sick. After a week researching what to do, I found a simple enough solution, unfortunately it was going to cost about $3,000, including the solar panels it would take since there is no electricity at the school, which sits in a remote area of northern cambodia in an active landmine field.

Just then, I got an email from the mother of a woman who had just returned to a visit to Cambodia and who had come with us to deliver supplies to this very school. She said she had "between $3-4,000 to donate to the school" and asked if there was anything that we wanted to get done at the school that she could help with. So, just this morning, we pushed GO on the clean water initiative that will provide something the rest of us take for granted to 200 children and their teachers.

This woman lives in Singapore. I wish I could fly there and kiss her on the face. I love the synergy of sending a prayer up and having it answered immediately. For this I am always grateful.
